Solyve — naming and building the brand of Lallemand's food enzymes
B2B ingredients / Food enzymes
Context & challenge
In 2026, Lallemand Bio-Ingredients consolidated its food-enzymes activity: the group's historical ranges and the Solyve entity acquired in 2025 merged into a single business line — one operational hub in Colombelles, two complementary fermentation platforms, a portfolio serving baking, wine, juices, plant-based, proteins and brewing. Two organisations, two histories — and no shared brand yet.
- Give the new entity a single name, legally defensible and acceptable to every team.
- Build the visual identity and the brand narrative that can carry this wider scope.
- Keep the Lallemand link visible and controlled, without crushing the new brand.
Approach
Not a logo job: a complete brand programme, run step by step with the business line's leadership.
Listen before naming: seven individual leadership interviews, then a cross-interview audit mapping the strategic convergences and tensions — the real brief came out of there. Name with method: food-enzymes market analysis, etymological exploration, strategic naming dossier, a brainstorming workshop with the team, an evaluation scorecard, then a structured comparison of the two finalist names and trademark screening — leadership decided: Solyve, a name already known to distributors and teams, became the single brand. Write before drawing: a messaging framework — narrative pillars, promises, voice, boilerplates — set as the single source for every piece of communication. Draw and equip: creative direction of the logo with a designer from the Nutrimedia network (the fragmented-S wordmark and its activation dot), brand guidelines driven from V0 to V2, then rolled out into operational tools.
Deliverables
- Cross-analysis of seven leadership interviews
- Strategic naming dossier, workshop and scorecard
- Messaging framework — pillars, voice, boilerplates
- Logo and brand guidelines (V0 → V2)
- Design system and tokens (CSS / JSON)
- Employee brand guide and brand instructions for internal AI assistants
Impact
- A single name, validated by leadership after trademark screening, that builds on existing awareness instead of starting from zero.
- A single narrative reference: sales, press and internal communication now derive from the same messaging framework, instead of reinventing the story for every asset.
- A brand delivered "AI-ready": guidelines readable by the teams and by their AI assistants alike — the brand book feeds the working tools directly.
